The Research Assistant will be conducting developmental neuroscience research on the cell signaling pathways regulating synapse formation, and the effects of early life stress on central and peripheral metabolic function. Prepare tissue for immunocytochemical and in situ hybridization. Perform protein and transcript localization studies. Collect tissue from animal models for performing metabolic, protein and genetic measures. Master mitochondrial respiration assays. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Office environment and research laboratory environments. Animal vivarium. Biological materials of low hazard. Minimal exposure to hazardous chemicals. Minimum Education/Training Required: BA or BS Minimum Experience Required: Undergraduate or postgraduate bench research that includes working with small animals Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Expertise in neuroscience-related biology and psychology. You must be willing to reside in the state of California, and have a primary work site in the state of California, to be considered for this position.
